Youth Services’ Spring Gala to feature a wedding and a murder

DUMMERSTON — On Saturday, April 8, Youth Services will hold its annual Gala and Silent Auction in Dummerston Center from 5 to 10 p.m. New to the much anticipated event is a murder-mystery twist, compliments of Vermont Theatre Company. Tickets are $85 per person ($55 of which is tax deductible) at www.youthservicesinc.org/gala.

The festive evening of food and drink by Hardy Foard Catering will start with a wedding and a whodunit at Dummerston Congregrational Church. The play has six characters, a “law enforcement officer,” and secret clues for the audience.

Between the wedding dinner at the Evening Star Grange, the silent auction of the “gift table” wedding cake, a champagne toast, and dancing to the tunes of The Butterfly Swing Band, clues will be revealed, accusations will be made, and fun will be had by all.

The Butterfly Swing Band plays classic swing grooves from the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s, with Joe LoMonaco (drums), Jon Oltman (upright bass), Scott Sizer (trumpet, harmonica, and vocals), Mark Anagnostopulos (guitar and vocals), and Walter Slowinski (clarinet, sax, and vocals). Their music includes two- and three-part vocal harmonies.

The evening of intrigue and live music will benefit Youth Services' critical safety net for local young people.
