Workshop shows new writers how to get published

BELLOWS FALLS — Village Square Booksellers celebrates National Novel Writing Month with a “How to Write to Publish” workshop featuring author and writing coach Annalisa Parent on Sunday Nov. 12, from 1-3 p.m.

Parent will walk participants through the elements of a publishable manuscript. Based on her decade-long career helping writers publish, and a 20-year writing career, she'll pull back the curtain on some tricks of the trade. Participants will also have the opportunity to share their writing and get meaningful feedback based on how their brains learn and create best. Free handouts will be provided. Participants should bring their own writing materials

Parent helps writers to find the confidence and expertise to bring their books from idea to publishable. Her book Storytelling for Pantsers: How to Outline and Revise your Novel without an Outline, which will be for sale at the bookstore, helps non-outlining fiction writers work through the writing and revision process with ease.

Parent is the senior editor of Laurel Elite Books and a seasoned writing coach. She is a 2015 Teacher of the Year nominee for her use of neuroscience principles, and she applies these same principles to her work with writers to create confidence and success. She writes for many local, national, and international publications, and has written and produced sketches for a Telly Award-winning television show.

For her novels, Parent has been featured on Huffington Post Live and by CBS, the Associated Press, and Korean Broadcast Systems, as well as many podcasts and radio programs. She is a featured speaker at the Writer's Digest Annual Convention, and the upcoming Unicorn Writers' Conference. She believes in taking the writing craft seriously without taking herself too seriously.
