BELLOWS FALLS — Music, performing artists, theater, and open studios are featured during the month of May in Bellows Falls, Rockingham, and Saxtons River through the Memorial Day weekend.
Visitors and residents of Rockingham will have no less than 21 opportunities to enjoy arts events and recognize the work of local artists.
“We're organizing a local effort throughout the month to draw attention to the unique artistic offerings found in Bellows Falls,” said Robert McBride, Rockingham Arts and Museum Project founding director, in a news release. “We've spent over a decade integrating artists and the arts in the organic revitalization of downtown Bellows Falls and the surrounding area, and are proud of the integral role artists play in sharing their talents with the community.”
Participating visual artists and craftspeople include Robert McBride, Phyllis Rosser, Chris Sherwin, Cathy Tretler and Tsuga Studios of Bellows Falls; Clare Adams of Cambridgeport; Jeanette Staley of Saxtons River; and Ailyn Hoey and Mark Goodenough of Rockingham.
Work will be on display at the Canal Street Art Gallery, Project Space 9, and the Flat Iron Exchange in Bellows Falls. During the Vermont Crafts Council's annual Open Studio Weekend on May 26 and 27, these artists will open their studios to the public and mount group shows in all three galleries.
Other event locations include Main Street Arts in Saxtons River; and Stone Church Arts, Stage 33 and the Rockingham Public Library in Bellows Falls. BF3F, third Friday merchant activities, take place during the evening in downtown Bellows Falls.
