Friends of the Wardsboro Library present annual spring plant sale

WARDSBORO — The Friends of the Wardsboro Library is sponsoring its annual Memorial Day weekend plant sale on Saturday, May 26. Admission and parking are free and the sale will be held rain or shine.

The annual event is a fundraiser for the Friends of the Wardsboro Library, a nonprofit organization that supports the Wardsboro Public Library. The sale runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 170 Main St., on the front lawn of the Wardsboro Library and also on the Wardsboro Town Common at Route 100 and Main Street.

A large variety of hearty perennials, colorful annuals, shrubs, Gilfeather turnip seedlings, vegetables, and herbs are all reasonably priced for the one-day sale. Vermont Extension Master Gardeners will be present to answer gardening questions. A one-day-only raffle of select garden-related prizes is scheduled, with winners to be announced at the close of the sale.

The Friends are once again sponsoring their annual “Best Raffle Ever” featuring a custom-made side table designed and handcrafted by Wardsboro resident and master cabinet maker, Peter Sebastian. The table, crafted from a local Rock Maple tree, will be on display at the sale.

Raffle tickets may be purchased at the sale, during library hours, or printed at home at www.friendsofwardsborolibrary.org, to be mailed with payment before Oct. 15. For more details and photos, visit the Friends' website. The winning ticket will be drawn at the Gilfeather Turnip Festival on Oct. 27 in Wardsboro. The winner need not be present at the drawing.

The Wardsboro Library trustees will also hold their annual bake sale on the Town Common on May 26, from 9 a.m. until all the homemade goodies are sold.

On the Common, shoppers will find the Friends' Flower Cart filled with annuals, as well as the Bake Sale tent.
