Played Out!, Brattleboro’s LGBT game night returns

BRATTLEBORO — After a brief hiatus, Played Out!, the monthly game night for the LGBT community and allies, returns to The Root Social Justice Center on Sept. 4.

Played Out! organizers invite all interested parties to join them for a fun and friendly evening of board games, dice games, and card games. They have a good collection of games and invite attendees to bring their favorites, as well as a few friends.

For the past few years, the event was hosted by Green Mountain Crossroads. Earlier this year, the rural Queer advocacy nonprofit group decided to discontinue Played Out!, citing a need to focus their efforts elsewhere.

A small group of individuals didn't want game night to end, and they took over organizing, promoting, and facilitating the monthly event. They kept the structure, the name, and the location, but changed the day of the week.

Played Out! now happens on Tuesdays from 7-9 p.m. Because of scheduling conflicts at The Root, it happens on the first Tuesday of some months and the second Tuesday of others.

The event kicks off Sept. 4 and continues on Oct. 2, Nov. 13, and Dec. 11. It is free and open to all ages, and organizers ask anyone 16 or younger to bring a responsible adult.
