Valley Lions Club announces scholarship awards

TOWNSHEND — The Valley Lions Club, serving the West River Valley communities of Newfane, Brookline, Townshend, Jamaica, and Wardsboro, recently awarded their 25th annual First Year College Scholarship to selected Leland & Gray High School graduates.

The graduating students each were presented with a $2,000 check to be used toward their college expenses. The scholarships were awarded based on students' submitted applications highlighting their academics, community service, and need for financial support.

This year, the Valley Lions Club Scholarship Committee received and reviewed 15 applications.

The committee selected three distinguished young women from the Valley Lions service area - Cassidy Wyman, Morgan Stevens, and Olivia Brown. They were chosen based on their superior character references by faculty, their financial need, and living up to the motto of the International Lions Club, “We Serve.”
