BRATTLEBORO — Latchis Arts' popular Sunday morning Movies for Kids series opens for the season on Sunday, Nov. 11, at 11:30 a.m.
Kids - and their big people and anyone who is a kid-at-heart - are invited to showings of movies at the Latchis Theatre on Sunday mornings at 11:30. Admission is by donation, and the concession stand will be open.
The theme for November's selections is “Lost ... and Found,” highlighting endearing stories of individuals whose challenges in life are made easier by the friends and family they find.
The series starts on November 11, with E.T., the beloved 1982 sci-fi adventure film that makes just about everybody's list of all-time great family films.
Praised as “the best cinematic fairy tale since The Wizard of Oz, the movie is recommended for ages 7 and up by Common Sense Media, which notes there are some scenes of peril and danger which may be too intense for young children. There are some brief episodes of strong language. For most kids, the endearing story of the friendship between Elliot and the extraterrestrial creature left behind on Earth is a wonder to behold.
The series continues Nov. 18 with Charlotte's Web, the 2006 G-rated telling of E.B. White's classic story of Wilbur the pig and the spider who befriends and saves him. Common Sense Media praised the film and said it was appropriate for ages 5 and up.
November's series concludes on November 25 with Annie, the 1982 musical about a plucky young girl who charms her way out of an orphanage and into the hearts of an unlikely, loving family. Common Sense Media rated the movie for age 6 and up.
Latchis Arts' Movies for Kids series takes a break in December and will return January through March 2019. For more information, visit latchisarts.org.
