• Marie S. Dennis of Marlboro, made the Dean's List for the fall 2018 trimester at Johnson and Wales University in Providence, R.I. She is currently in her final term as an undergraduate, and will complete her degree in liberal studies with a minor in business in February. She will attend graduation for her B.A. degree next May, and has applied for the MBA program at Johnson and Wales to begin in the spring 2019 semester.

•Zoe E. Soule of West Wardsboro was recently inducted into Sigma Gamma Epsilon, the national honor society for earth science at St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y. Soule is a member of the Class of 2019 and is majoring in geology.

• Gabrielle Carpenter of Vernon, a sophomore who is a member of Castleton University women's volleyball team, was recently named to the Little East Conference All-Academic Team. To qualify, a student-athlete must be at least in sophomore standing in the classroom, have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the previous semester, and have been at their current institution for at least one full academic year.

Obituaries

•Albert “Hogy” Hogenmiller, 85, of Hinsdale, N.H. Died Dec. 11, 2018 at his home. He was born in Nampa, Idaho on Nov. 23, 1933, the son of Adam S. and June (Pline) Hogenmiller. He was raised and educated in Nampa, attending public schools and later attended Boise Junior College. A veteran of the Korean War, he proudly served his country in the Navy aboard the U.S.S. Valley Forge from 1952 until his honorable discharge in 1956. He worked in the construction industry for many years, then at AMP Keyboard and Valley Sales and Rentals in Hinsdale. Following his retirement, he established “Hogy's Repair,” servicing paint sprayers and pressure washers until health issues prevented him from working. A man steadfast in his walk of faith, with his wife he was a member of Grace Christian Fellowship in Winchester. He enjoyed the outdoors, going hunting and fishing, and time shared with his family. His marriage to Arlene (Nadeau) ended in 1980. He later married Sandy (Ellis) on Valentines Day in 1981. Besides his faithful and devoted wife of 37 years, he leaves three sons, Alan and his wife, Judy,of Brattleboro, Adam and his partner, Lisa Prince, of Westmoreland, N.H., and Alex and his wife, Brenda, of Guilford; one daughter, Denise Henson of Virginia Beach, Va.; one sister, Dorla Schindel of Boise; and nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Additionally, he is survived by several nieces and nephews. Memorial information: A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, Dec. 22, at 1 p.m., at Grace Christian Fellowship, 81 Ashuelot St., Winchester. A reception and light refreshments will follow.
