Ring in 2019 with Brattleboro Last Night festivities

BRATTLEBORO — Brattleboro's Last Night Committee is pleased to present a fun-filled and substance-free day of celebration for all ages on New Year's Eve, Monday, Dec. 31.

The day kicks off with activities for both seniors and toddlers. There will be a senior potluck luncheon at the Brattleboro Senior Center on Main Street from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. This year's featured guests are the Rob Fletcher Trio.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., KidsPLAYce on Elliot Street is holding a toddler and preschool free-play session. For more information, call 802-254-5212.

From 1 to 4 p.m., folks can enjoy sleigh and hay rides at Fairwinds Farm on Upper Dummerston Road (no dogs please). Adults ride for $8, while the cost for children up to 12 years is $4.

The children's program this year features Sandglass Theater presentation of Puncshi!, a live puppet show for ages 0-6, from 4 to 5 p.m. at the Brattleboro Retreat's Educational Conference Center. Just bring a nonperishable food item for Project Feed the Thousands as admission to this performance.

Again this year, the committee joins Brattleboro Bowl on Putney Road for a great day and evening of bowling. Children's bowling runs from 2 to 4 p.m. For $8 a bowler, you get shoes, popcorn, and cider. All-ages bowling at 5 p.m. is $50 per lane, or $55 per lane at 7:30 p.m.

Both time slots include two hours of bowling, shoes, pizza, soda, party favors, music, and a light show. To reserve your lane, call 802-257-1177.

There will be free skating at Living Memorial Park from 6 to 9 p.m.; skate rentals are available for $3. There will be door prizes and great hot chocolate.

There will be a Teen Party at the Boys & Girls Club from 6 p.m. until 12:30 a.m. It's free with games, food, and a countdown frenzy at midnight.

The traditional concert this year includes the Amidon, Murphy & Tracy Families, at Centre Congregational Church on Main Street from 7 to 9 p.m. Adult tickets are $15, children 6-14 years old are $5, and children 5 and under are admitted free to this annual concert.

After the concert, families can head down to the West River to watch the fireworks display at 9:30 p.m. over the Retreat Meadows.
