Vermont Tech creates new LNA course

BRATTLEBORO — Vermont Technical College has created a new Licensed Nurse Assistant program that will be taught at its Brattleboro Campus.

According to a news release, Vermont Tech is starting this new course “in response to the tremendous need for LNAs in our region. Many long-term care and acute care facilities hire LNAs and, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the demand for LNAs is growing faster than [demand] for workers in nearly every other job or position.”

Nursing assistants help patients with daily activities such as eating and bathing. They also help provide basic care for patients in hospitals and residents of long-term care facilities.

An open house for this program will be held on Thursday, May 16, from 2 to 4 p.m., on the Brattleboro VTC Campus in the Brooks House.

The course is seven weeks long, three days a week. The first class starts July 15. Tuition assistance is available for those who qualify.

Upon completion of the program, students will be eligible to sit for the Vermont Board of Nursing LNA licensure exam.
