Pastel Society opens exhibit at Burdick’s

Eleven artists from the Southeast Regional Hub of the Vermont Pastel Society are showing selected original pastels at Burdick's Restaurant in Walpole, N.H., from June 3 to July 28.

The artists are Carol Corliss, Monica Hastings, Lesley Heathcote, Deedee Jones, Pat McPike, Matthew Peake, Jean Pollock, Rodrica Tilley, Maggie Smith, Carol Stephens, and Gill Truslow.

All are experienced artists who live and work locally and who enjoy working in pastel, a medium that consists of pure pigment mixed with enough binder to form a stick.

Pastels have been used by artists for centuries. When framed, they are highly archival and permanent. These paintings are all for sale. There will be a price list available with contact information.

The Vermont Pastel Society is an all-volunteer organization founded in 1999 with currently about 100 members. The purpose of the VPS is to build and strengthen connections among pastel artists. It hosts two large exhibits each year, numerous workshops statewide, and now has several regional hubs that promote their own exhibits and events as well.
