Brattleboro pool, water playground to open June 20, with new rules

BRATTLEBORO — The Recreation & Parks Department has announced that the Living Memorial Park Pool/Rotary Water Playground will be opening for the season on Saturday, June 20, at 1 p.m.

Priority will be given to town residents, with non-residents allowed to use the pool as space allows. Due to COVID-19, the pool schedule, fees, and procedures have been updated.

• Pool reservations will be taken daily beginning at 10 a.m., only at the swimming pool by calling 802-254-6700. Only 25 people at a time, including staff, will be allowed into the gated area.

Only same-day reservations will be accepted, and you can generally reserve only one time slot per day, though additional slots might be available by calling the pool after 2:30 p.m.

You will be required to provide your address, phone number, and first and last names of everyone in your reservation party.

If all time slots are full, you can add your name to the waiting list in case of no-shows or cancellations.

• Time slots: Pool reservations are available for one-hour time slots: 1 to 2 p.m., 2:15 to 3:15 p.m., 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., 4:45 to 5:45 p.m., and 6 to 7 p.m. Staff will clean and disinfect between each session while following recommended protocols from the Vermont Health Department and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

• Hourly pool fees: For residents, the cost is $1 for students and $2 for adults; non-resident fees are $2 for students and $3 for adults. Children age 5 and younger pay $1.

Season pool passes will not be available this summer.

Anyone who enters the gated areas will also be required to pay the fee regardless of whether they go in the water.

• The changing room will not be available. Your party must come ready to swim.

• Restrooms will be available.

• No picnic tables, benches, or chairs will be provided on or around the pool deck this year, nor will green bags for storage of personal belongings or life jackets be available.

• Toys and goggles will not be available for use from the Recreation & Parks Department; however, you can bring your own goggles into the pool.

• Everyone in a reservation party will have their temperature taken before entering the facility. Anyone with a temperature reading greater than 100.4 degrees will not be allowed to enter, nor will the entire party.

• If you or anyone in your reservation party is not feeling well or have a cough, chills, sore throat, recent loss of taste or smell, or have been in close contact with someone sick, you should not come to the swimming pool.

• The Recreation & Parks Department will not be offering swimming lessons this year.
