‘We are interconnected’

‘Policies that promote justice and an opportunity for people to thrive, that prioritize sustainability and address climate change, are the heart of my campaign’

WESTMINSTER — The motto for my campaign is “For People and Planet.” Policies that promote justice and an opportunity for people to thrive, that prioritize sustainability and address climate change, are the heart of my campaign.

I am eager to work with other state representatives to increase renewable energy, improve public transit, and keep small Vermont towns viable.

So much of our economy is dependent on visitors who come to our state to enjoy its natural beauty. For Vermont's people to thrive, we need to protect and preserve our natural world. We are interconnected. What is good for the planet is good for our people, too.

During COVID-19, Vermonters who are able to do so have been working from home. The pandemic has created a drop in carbon emissions because of reduced driving.

If we want to see continued improvement in air quality, we can encourage this trend by expanding access to high-speed internet, working with employers to encourage flexibility for work-at-home options, and strengthening Vermont's public transit.

Reliance on fossil fuels is not sustainable, both because of diminishing oil resources and the damaging results to our environment from burning fossil fuels.

We should expand our existing solar capacity while developing new energy options. Alternatives need to be affordable to enable Vermonters to help our state transition to long-term sustainable energy alternatives.

Vermonters appreciate the natural world and want a safe, thriving environment for our people. I look forward to working on policies that will protect and preserve our environment and enable our people to thrive, too.

If you live in Windham-4 (Westminster, Dummerston, or Putney), I hope you will cast one of your two state representative votes for me.

Don't forget to cast your vote on Tuesday, Aug. 11, or mail in your ballot soon so that it will arrive by that date.
