BAPC recognizes area businesses

BRATTLEBORO — The Brattleboro Area Prevention Coalition (BAPC) acknowledges the businesses who participated in the responsible beverage service trainings held in June, which are co-sponsored by the Vermont Department of Liquor Control.

Sixty-six employees of retailers and establishments that serve or sell alcohol and/or tobacco attended the trainings, required for liquor and tobacco licensees every two years.  The next training for retailers is Sept. 8, from 3-6 p.m., and for establishments on Sept. 9, from 1-4 p.m. Both trainings will be held at the Marlboro College Graduate Center in Brattleboro.

BAPC recognizes the important role that local retailers and restaurants play in preventing underage drinking. Thank you to the following businesses for participating in the training:

Planet Gas, Brattleboro Neighbors, Avenue Grocery, Brattleboro Mobil, Grafton Grocery Market, Mo's Market, Whitingham Country Store, C&S Beverage and Dairy, Riverbend Farm Market, Hermitage Inn, Dot's Restaurant, The Weathervane, Metropolis, Rick's Tavern, Riverview Café, MacLaomainn's Scottish Pub, Honora Winery & Vineyard, JD McCliment's, The Marina, Readsboro Inn, Cappuccino's, Tater Hill Golf Club, American Legion Posts #5 and #37, Polish American Club, Sundried Tomato, The New England House, Fraternal Order of Eagles (Aerie #2445), and the Ramada Inn.

Thank you also to the Brattleboro Police and the Brattleboro Selectboard for having representatives at the training. Congratulations to Jean MacLean and Melissa Merrill, who each won a gift basket donated by Grafton Village Cheese Company in the trainings' raffles.

The mission of BAPC is to develop, implement, and support a comprehensive community effort, resulting in the prevention and reduction of alcohol, tobacco, and other drug abuse in the Windham Southeast area. The coalition meets in Brattleboro on the second Friday of each month at noon, from September to June, at the Marlboro College Graduate Center.
