Turning Point seeks stories for annual contest

A Beautiful Journey features personal stories from people in recovery from substance-use disorder

BRATTLEBORO — Each year, Turning Point of Windham County hosts A Beautiful Journey, a storytelling event where people in recovery from substance-use disorder share their personal stories.

Organizers say these stories range “from the time before they used substances, to the time when substance use consumed their lives and, finally, to the time when they found recovery through hope and connection with their communities.”

“They will tell us that substance-use disorder is not a choice; it is a brain disease that impacts the lives of too many in our community.

“Community members will hear firsthand from people who have experienced the heartache and turmoil that substance use can cause, creating an opportunity to let go of the stigma attached to having a substance use disorder.”

Would you like to tell your story? Do you have writing, editing, or storytelling skills that you could use to coach a storyteller? Turning Point is actively recruiting storytellers and coaches who work together to craft authentic, compelling, and inspiring stories that enlighten, heal, and connect.
