Putney Public Library suspends in-person visits
PUTNEY - In an effort to keep staff and the community healthy, the Putney Public Library has suspended in-person visits to the library for the next two weeks.
No-contact pickup borrowing will continue. Anyone who would like to reserve an item or access their online account to place holds may contact Librarian Emily Zervas for their login information at [email protected] or 802-387-4407.

BUHS hosts drive-up food collection for Project Feed
BRATTLEBORO - A drive-in collection organized by the Brattleboro Union High School Student Council for Project Feed the Thousands will take place on Saturday, Dec. 5, from 8 a.m. to noon, and Sunday, Dec. 6, from noon to 4 p.m., in the parking lot at Brattleboro Union High School.
Donations of cash or non-perishable food are welcome.
Christmas plans move forward in Grafton
GRAFTON - Members of the Grafton Fire and Rescue Auxiliary say they continue to be constant in their support of local First Responders and the community.
As part of the annual Christmas in Grafton Festival, the Auxiliary will sell freshly cut Vermont trees near the Phelps Barn at the Grafton Inn on Saturday, Dec. 5 and Sunday, Dec. 6, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Any remaining trees will be available at the Grafton Village Garage.
Trees of various types, ranging from 5 to 10 feet, will be available. Local delivery can be arranged.
Even though the Christmas in Grafton event will be scaled back this year, it is rumored that Santa may be passing through to check out the decorations around the Village on his way to the North Pole.
Grafton Firefighters have been asked to be ready with a fire engine to escort Santa around the Village. As more information becomes available, it will be posted on the Grafton Fire and Rescue page on Facebook.
Dummerston seeks volunteers for town boards
DUMMERSTON - The Selectboard is looking for volunteers to fill the positions of planning commissioner (four-year term) and health officer (three-year term).
The board also seeks to fill the following positions, each with a one-year term: two Development Review Board alternates, assistant zoning administrator, two animal control officers, two Windham Regional Commission representatives, delinquent-tax collector, and a member of the Social Services Advisory Committee.

Windham County Sheriff's Office, Dover Police team up for toy drive
NEWFANE - The Windham County Sheriff's Office says that “it is with regret that due to the COVID-19 epidemic and the unfortunate passing of our contact person with the Marine Corps League, we are unable to conduct our yearly Toys for Kids drive in the Market 32 plaza [in Brattleboro] this year.”
But the Sheriff's Office, in conjunction with the Dover Police Department, will accept donations in COVID-friendly boxes in their respective lobbies.
“We are encouraging anyone with the means to do so to please drop off their donation at either agency by Dec. 18,” the agencies said in a news release.
The Sheriff's Office will deliver donations to the Marine Corps League for disbursement.
Personnel from both agencies hope that they can “help share a little bit of joy during this time of hardship for so many.”
“We thank those of you who can for helping support your community, some of whom are struggling more this year than others,” they wrote.
