Brooks Library now allows public access by appointment

BRATTLEBORO - Starting this week, Brooks Memorial Library will offer limited public access, by appointment, to the building for browsing and computer use.

One household may visit the young people's collections and one may visit the adult collection for 15 minutes, on the hour and half hour. Computers, the printer, photocopier, and fax machine will be available for use during these brief periods.

The library will be open Tuesdays, 1 to 4 p.m.; Wednesdays, 5 to 8 p.m.; Thursdays and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and Fridays, 2 to 5 p.m.

Call 802-254-5290, ext. 0, to make an appointment.

“Please know we will take every precaution to ensure the safety of both public and staff,” Library Director Starr LaTronica said in a news release. “Properly worn masks and hand sanitizer use will be required, time limits will be strictly enforced, and sanitizing between visits will be thorough.”

The library continues to encourage patrons to use its curbside pickup or delivery service.

Reference and technology consultations will continue to be conducted remotely to avoid close personal contact.

Thrifty Attic reopens in Londonderry

Wardsboro cancels 4th of July festivities for 2021

WARDSBORO - Members of the Wardsboro 4th of July Street Fair and Parade Committee have decided to cancel the 2021 event, given the current uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic situation.

“It is with great sadness to have to inform you that we unanimously agreed it is in the best interest and safety of our community, vendors, volunteers, and attendees to cancel our usual event again this year,” the committee announced in a news release.

However, members said that the committee “is still meeting and has been tossing around lots of ways to celebrate the day.”

The event has been taking place since 1949. It was canceled in 2020 after the pandemic hit.

“This event has brought our little town so much happiness and joy for the past 72 years!” the committee members write. “Please bear with us, and we will keep you informed.”
