Brattleboro Women’s Chorus welcomes guest artists for season finale

BRATTLEBORO — In September 1996, Becky Graber hosted a Wednesday night rehearsal at KidsPLAYce, the play center where her husband Tim Ellis was the director.

She imagined she would gather a small group of women and girls to sing together through the fall, but people kept coming, and by November, they outgrew the venue.

More than 60 singers met each week in the music room at Oak Grove School, and the group held its first concert in an ice storm in December (an event which led to the concerts being held in November in following years).

During 2020-21, the Brattleboro Women's Chorus celebrates 25 years of singing with online musical events on the 25th day of the month. All singers (not just women!) are welcome to join them on Zoom.

Their final (and biggest) online singing event, celebrating 25 years of the BWC, will take place on Tuesday, May 25, at 7 p.m., on Zoom.

Director Becky Graber welcomes a number of guest conductors connected to the BWC in some way to lead a song in honor of the group's 25th anniversary year: Mary Alice and Peter Amidon, Andy Davis, Peggo Horstmann Hodes, Lisa McCormick and Julian McBrowne, Kristen Carmichael-Bowers, and Jane Lowey.
