Business plan competition in Dover seeks entrants

DOVER - The town says it is looking for people who launch their business here.

Economic Development Director Eric Durocher said in a news release that entries are now being accepted for the Dover Launch business plan competition, which will award one final winner $20,000 to launch a business in town.

Window Dressers plan community building sessions

WINDHAM - The Wardsboro, Londonderry, and Windham energy committees have teamed up with Window Dressers to offer the nonprofit organization's insulating window inserts at a community build from Nov. 17 to 21 at the Windham Meeting House.

The inserts are installed from the inside of windows and held in place by friction. Depending on the efficiency of your windows and home, you could see fuel savings of up to 20 percent with inserts in place.

Qualifying households are offered up to 10 free inserts. Everyone receiving inserts is asked to participate in some form in the community build. No special skills are required.

During the first week of August, volunteer team members attended a Window Dressers training at the Guilford Town Offices to become measurers for the build. This means that volunteers are ready to start scheduling and performing window measuring visits.

The inserts are built of pine frames and wrapped drum-tight with a durable plastic film to create clear views through an insulating air space. Around the outer edges, foam weather stripping stops drafts and aids the insert's tight, custom fit.

Pricing is based on size and finish (natural pine or white). A medium-sized 30 in. x 52 in. insert costs $39 plus tax (pine) and $50 plus tax (white).

If you are interested in scheduling a volunteer to measure your windows, ordering window inserts, and participating in the build, or if you have questions, sign up at windowdressers.org/sign-up-for-inserts, email [email protected], or call 802-896-9907.
