Local schools take part in 'Name a Plow' program

This fall, schools from around the state came up with names for the Vermont Agency of Transportation snowplows in their respective local maintenance districts.

From creative and clever, to cute and silly, here are the new names of VTrans plows, courtesy of students in Windham County:

• Academy School, Brattleboro: Astro.

• Central Elementary School, Bellows Falls: The Maple Machine.

• Flood Brook Elementary School, Londonderry: The Mighty Snow Tiger.

• Grafton Elementary School: Snow Panther.

• Halifax Elementary School: Midnight Monster.

• Jamaica Village School: Vermont Bob.

• NewBrook Elementary School, Newfane: Mr. Plower.

• Oak Grove School, Brattleboro: Mr. Frost.

• Saxtons River Elementary School: Arctic Fox.

• The Dover School: The Orange Snow Peeler.

• Wardsboro Elementary School: Storm Trooper.

• Westminster Elementary School: Green Mountain Plower.

• Windham Elementary School: Slip Sliding Safety Device.

Each participating school was visited by their newly-named plow this week as part of Vermont Plow Day.
