GrooveBarbers return to Next Stage for annual holiday concert

PUTNEY — A Next Stage seasonal classic - The GrooveBarbers' Holiday A Cappella Spectacular - will return on Saturday, Dec. 18 at 7:30 p.m.

Each member of the all-vocal powerhouse quartet The GrooveBarbers is a bona fide star in his own right: Sean Altman, Charlie Evett, and Steve Keyes are former members of the pioneering contemporary a cappella group Rockapella, and Kevin Weist is “a renowned bald vocal guru,” according to the GrooveBarbers' biography of the group.

Collectively, the musicians have established themselves as a go-to vocal group for rock, doo-wop, jazz, and barbershop. The GrooveBarbers were featured in two national TV commercials as The Astelins, a “deliriously suave vocal group that offers Astelin nasal spray to seasonal allergy sufferers,” the group says.

For this holiday tour, the GrooveBarbers will perform holiday hits interspersed with classics from the group's four-album repertoire.

They will be joined by operatic soprano Inna Dukach (Metropolitan Opera, Royal Opera House Covent Garden) for several collaborations. Dukach and the GrooveBarbers collectively perform as Doowopera.
