Palaver Strings return to BMC on Jan. 7 with ‘Painted Dreams’

BRATTLEBORO — The Palaver Strings Chamber Series returns to the Brattleboro Music Center on Friday, Jan. 7, with “Painted Dreams.”

Palaver Strings musicians say they hope that “Painted Dreams” helps audiences close their eyes and think of sunnier times while in the throes of a New England winter.

Performers include Domenic Salerni and Maya French, violin; Brianna Fischler and Lysander Jaffe, viola; and Ben Swartz and Kamyron Williams, cello.

The program begins with Adolphus Hailstork's Divertimento for Violin and Viola, followed by Jeffrey Mumford's string quartet, A Veil of Liquid Diamonds.

The program concludes with Tchaikovsky's Souvenir de Florence, Op. 70.

Palaver Strings is a musician-led string ensemble and nonprofit organization based in Portland, Maine. Founded in 2014, it has established itself as a forward-thinking ensemble whose mission is to strengthen and inspire community through music.

In the organization's musician-led model, its musicians “share artistic and administrative leadership, guided by a passion for engaging new audiences, addressing social justice issues, and amplifying underrepresented voices,” as described in a news release.

Tickets for the 7 p.m. concert are $20 and are available at bmcvt.org, by calling 802-257-4523, or by emailing [email protected].
