BMAC presents online studio tour and demo with glass artist Robert DuGrenier

BRATTLEBORO — The Brattleboro Museum & Art Center (BMAC) will present a free online studio tour and glassblowing demonstration with artist Robert DuGrenier on Thursday, Feb. 10, at 7 p.m. via Zoom and Facebook Live.

This event is presented in connection with the exhibit “Vermont Glass Guild: Inspired by the Past,” on view at BMAC through March 5. The exhibit features work by DuGrenier and 12 other glass artists, each of whom selected an item from BMAC's Study Collection of Ancient Objects to inform and inspire their work.

“Working with the Study Collection was the first time I was ever able to handle antiquities that were more than 500 years old,” DuGrenier said in a news release. “It was incredibly exciting to get the sense of soul that was created by artisans thousands of years ago using materials that can endure over time.”

DuGrenier is a well-known sculptor working primarily in glass, metal, and marble. Much of his work is informed by nature and its effects over time. DuGrenier's glass design studio was founded in 1980, and he has worked in collaboration with architects and designers to create custom glass sculptural installations and chandeliers for hotels, stores, museums, and private residences around the world.
