Petitions available for those seeking elected offices

BRATTLEBORO — Petition forms are available from the office of Town Clerk Hilary Francis for those who wish to run for town offices, the Windham Southeast School District (WSESD) board, and Representative Town Meeting.

All positions will be decided on the ballot for the Annual Town Election, which will take place Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at American Legion Post 5, at 32 Linden St.

Petitions for all new office seekers are due to the Town Clerk's office by 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 30, 2023 for the candidate's name to appear on the ballot. Incumbent Town Meeting members must return their Notice of Intent form by that time.

Petitions for town officers and school board members must contain at least 30 valid signatures of registered Brattleboro voters.

Candidates for Town Meeting member must file a nomination petition, issued by the Town Clerk's office, with at least 10 valid signatures of voters from the district where the candidate lives.

Annual Representative Town Meeting this year will begin on Saturday, March 25, 2023. The location and format will be announced.
