Brattleboro Community Television announces Autumn 2010 training schedule.

BRATTLEBORO — Community members can learn how to create and share your interests and ideas with regional cable viewers through the art of video. 

BCTV offers training and video production equipment to volunteers who want to make programming for broadcast on cable channels 8 and 10. As the public access station for the seven communities in the greater Brattleboro region, BCTV offers equipment and technical support free to anyone who is trained.

Space in class is reserved at time of payment. Reservation deposit is returned after both classes are attended. Call 802-257-0888 or email [email protected]  to register.

• Single Camera Field Production: Thursday, Oct. 14, 5:30-8:30 p.m. Cost: $20 fee, plus $20 refundable deposit upon completion of both classes. Hands-on instruction on BCTV's handheld camcorders for general field production and story-telling. Includes introduction to BCTV's equipment and instruction on tripod use, basic audio and lighting. Pre-requisite: none, but crewing on BCTV programs is greatly appreciated (eight student maximum).

• Introduction to Digital Editing with Final Cut Pro: Tuesday and Thursday, Oct. 26 and 28, 5:30-7:30 p.m. Cost: $20 fee, plus $20 refundable deposit upon completion of both classes. Learn fundamental editing skills on a powerful and dynamic video editing program. Topics covered include capturing footage, cutting, and adding transitions, special effects, titles and audio tracks. Pre-requisite: working knowledge of Mac computers is expected. Practicum: 2 or more hours editing a video project shown on BCTV (six students maximum).

• Advanced Camera Techniques: Tuesday, Nov. 9, 5:30-8:30 p.m. Cost: $20 fee plus $20 refundable deposit upon completion of the class. You have the basic technical and conceptual understanding to make recordings, but want to know more about the camera features and techniques used to make productions look more professional and give operators more confidence. Hands-on instruction using BCTV cameras, tripods, lighting, audio and more. Pre-requisite: Previous camera or production classes and/or active producers (eight students maximum).

• DVD Authoring Workshop: Thursday, Nov. 4, 5:30-7:30 p.m. Cost: $10. After completing your video project you want to make a spiffy DVD with menus and titles. Find out how to do it at this workshop.

• Uploading Video Workshop: Thursday, Dec. 2, 5:30-7:30  Cost:$10. Finished your production and ready to put it up on one of the video hosting sites? Learn how at this workshop.

• BCTV Producer's Night: Tuesday, Dec. 14, 6:00-7:30 p.m. Cost: free. Producer's Night is an opportunity for BCTV's recently trained and established producers to meet, connect and learn about different productions that are underway or have recently been completed. Anyone who has participated in BCTV productions or taken a class at BCTV is welcome to attend.
