To find life, researchers need to find planets, and are finding thousands. Presented by the Southern Vermont Astronomy Group. 7 p.m. in the Community Room. Free. Music

PUTNEY Yellow Barn Residency Concert: In 1747, Johann Sebastian Bach appeared at the court of Frederick the Great. From this meeting came "Musical Offering," a moment of polyphony, which is explored and performed in its entirety by Yellow Barn musicians. Interspersed with Bach's work will be Chinese-American composer Lei Liangs "Garden 8," a set of interludes that pays tribute to the Ming Dynasty "Yuen Yeh," the earliest and most exquisite Chinese horticulture treatise. Liangs' connection with Bach is born out of his fascination with the polyphony found within the single lines that Bach creates, at once experienced as melody and as part of underlying harmony. 8 p.m. $18, $16 seniors, $9 students. Next Stage Arts Project, 15 Kimball Hill. Information: 802-387-0102; Click for more info on Web in new window.
