BRATTLEBORO Hooker-Dunham Inaugurates Writing and Acting Workshop: This new "incubator" project is designed to give developing artists--both in the performing and the visual arts--an opportunity to hone their skills. Writers and actors will meet bi-weekly to discuss their work, to read works-in-progress, and to present their work to each other on the Hooker-Dunham stage. The group, facilitated by Cassandra Holloway and theater manager Jon Mack, will meet every other Sunday for a series of six sessions. Anyone who wishes to participate may join the group. If participants feel they are benefiting, the first set of sessions will be continued. If participants wish, they may choose to present their work in performances open to the public. 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. every other Sun. for 6 weeks. Through Sunday, June 10. Free. BELLOWS FALLS Fear of Singing Breakthrough Workshop: If you can talk you can sing. Learn in a way that's supportive, comfortable and fun. Discover your own natural voice. Take home skills to start you on your way. Through a combination of games, improvisation and simple songs from around the world, we'll explore different aspects of the voice. We'll create a tool kit of accessible techniques for you to take home and use as you develop your skills. MARLBORO Samara Quartet: Marlboro College Music for a Sunday Afternoon: This quartet was formed in the summer of 2017, bringing together four established musicians who have dedicated their professional lives to chamber music: Louisa Stonehill, Marcia Cassidy, Paul Cohen, and Nicholas Burns. KEENE Keene State College Chamber Singers: Benefit for the Cedarcrest Center for Children with Disabilities: Dr. Sandra Howard directs this performance. The Singers, joined by collaborative pianist Tom Martin, perform Fauré’s "Requiem." The KSC String Ensemble, joined by director Mike Kelly, perform Whitacre's "Five Hebrew Love Songs," based on delicate Hebrew poems written by the composer's wife, Hila Plitmann. Choral works by Esenvalds, Schubert, and Stravinsky are also included. 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. in Alumni Recital Hall. $10, $5 for students/seniors. 20% of ticket proceeds will benefit Cedarcrest Center. Well-being

W. BRATTLEBORO The Compassionate Friends of Brattleboro: Self-help organization for families who have had a child die. Provides highly personal comfort, hope and support to every family experiencing the death of a son or a daughter, a brother or sister, or a grandchild, and helps others better assist the grieving family. Meetings are for all families regardless of race, religious orientation, economic background, or the cause and age of the child at death, from pre-birth up. W. TOWNSHEND Walking Forest Meditation: Join community members on a simple guided meditation in a local forest. This will be a shared time and space spent in the woods, dedicated to strengthening our spiritual connection with Earth and ourselves. WEST TOWNSHEND Gerda's Equine Rescue: Spring Clean Up Day: Volunteers help keep this Rescue in tip-top shape for the rescue horses while they wait for their forever homes.
