BRATTLEBORO Great Books Discussion: "The Warmth of Other Suns" by Isabel Wilkerson: This is an epic chronicle of the black migration from The South to the North and the West. Due to the length of the book, we will be discussing only Sections I through IV. VERNON Vernon Historians Memorial Day Program: "Civil War Monuments and Memorials": Guest speaker Don Streeter of Hampstead, NH, the great-grandson of Philander A. Streeter, who served as a private in the 2nd Vermont Volunteer Infantry Regiment during the Civil War, discusses local Civil War monuments and memorials in this region and stories of the soldiers they commemorate, plus photos. Private Streeter's name is listed on Vernon's war memorial, along with his brother and six cousins. The Vernon Girl Scout Troop will participate in the program. 3:30 p.m. Pond Road Chapel, 634 Pond Rd.
