BRATTLEBORO Artist Talk - Richard Klein - "Bottle in the River": Have you ever watched a bottle float down a river? How often do you think about all the glass in the waste stream? Klein’s current installation, "Bottle in the River," uses repurposed glass objects to create work that explores how we interact with nature and the passage of time. He's incorporated found eyeglass lenses, glass bottles, drinking glasses and ashtrays into sculptures that play with light and color. His work also asks us to reflect on our relationship with manufactured materials. As an artist, he has exhibited widely. His work is included in many public and private collections. Since 1999 he has been exhibitions director of The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum in Ridgefield, CT, and has organized over 80 exhibitions. His essays on art and culture have appeared widely in books and magazines. This event is presented in connection with The Confluence Project, an experiment in creative placemaking organized by Vermont Performance Lab and Windham Regional Commission. 7 p.m. Talk (Klein's installation on view through 6/17).
