PUTNEY Puppet Theater Intensive Workshop: For puppeteers, teachers, actors, directors, designers, writers to expand and deepen their skill and understanding in the art of the puppet. Daily sessions include body training and breath development in relation to puppet performance, training in manipulation technique and its relation to artistic statement and in materials and their metaphorical implications. Guided improvisations lead to development of work stressing ensemble creation and directing techniques for Puppet Theater. Open workshop time for puppet building. ROCKINGHAM 112th Old Rockingham Meeting House Pilgrimage - History Through Song: David Deacon will perform songs with regional relevance (from the 4,000-song collection of Helen Hartness Flanders of Springfield between the 1930s and 1950s). Deacon is especially interested in introducing songs that tell us something about social attitudes or that had a social purpose. People sang when they gathered or danced. Presented by the Rockingham Meeting House Association. 12 p.m. barbeque and refreshments available, 1 p.m. program begins. Free; donations for support of the building are welcome. BRATTLEBORO Farm to Ballet: Outdoor ballet with dancers dressed as cows, goats, pigs, and chickens?! Only in Vermont. Join us for a whimsical outdoor ballet with food trucks, farm animals, and live Vivaldi played by a string sextet. Come early to visit baby animals, walk through the Children's Garden and Nature Trail, and enjoy indoor and outdoor play spaces. Bring a picnic or grab delicious food from local food trucks including Dosa Kitchen, Rigani Wood-Fired Pizza, and Tito's Taqueria. BRATTLEBORO The Global Big Latch On: We gather to breastfeed and offer peer support to each other at registered worldwide. Friends, family, community join this celebration to promote/ support breastfeeding. All supporters of breastfeeding and chestfeeding are welcome (dads too), whether currently nursing a little one or not. Those who exclusively pump will be included in the count if they express milk during the 1-minute Latch On. GBLO aims to protect, promote, support breastfeeding families by: providing support for communities to identify and grow opportunities to provide on-going breastfeeding support and promotion; raising awareness of breastfeeding support and knowledge available locally and globally; helping communities support breastfeeding in public places; making breastfeeding a normal part of day-to-day life at a local community level; increasing support for people for whom breastfeed–support comes from partners, family, communities; ensuring communities have resources to advocate for coordinated appropriate, accessible breastfeeding support services.
