Gun group has nothing to hide, wants a debate

RE: “” [, Nov. 30]:

The Commons quotes Ann Braden: “This is not about being pro-gun or anti-gun. It’s about gun responsibility.”

If Braden were only truthful in her statement.

For the past 230 years, Vermonters have been the safest and most responsible firearm owners in this country. That is why we are the safest state in the union and one of the safest places in the world. It is still insulting for her and Gun Sense Vermont, her astroturf organization, to defame the good and honest people of Vermont.

I am asking her or any member of her organization to debate me. I have asked this so many times I have lost count, but I will continue to do so.

What are you trying to hide, Ann? Is it the $250,000 you spent trying to buy your way in to the Legislature? Refusing to admit that Michael Bloomberg is funding your organization? What are you trying to hide besides the truth?

We at the Gun Owners of Vermont have nothing to hide so we are willing to debate you.

Yes, I know you will not convince me of your side and I will not convince you of ours. I want a debate so the general public can learn from it.
