Vermont is the safest state in the country

RE: “” [, Nov. 30]:

Ann Braden, let’s set the record straight.

Yes, I am the president and founder of the Gun Owners of Vermont.

No, we are not an affiliate of Gun Owners of America, and you know that. So, as usual, you are — to put it mildly — stretching the truth.

As a matter of fact, you and your sugar daddy Michael Bloomberg have spent almost half a million dollars in this state in the past few years trying to push his agenda.

The statistics your organization has been touting have no basis in fact or truth. Vermont is the safest state in the country and one of the safest places in the world. For 225 years, Vermonters have safely and responsibly used firearms, and you and State Representatives Mike Mrowicki and David Deen insult the good and honest people of this state by trying to shove some egotistical billionaire’s ideas down the throats of the people who live here.

If you, Mrowicki, and Deen do not want to trust the people in this fine state, that’s up to you, but I trust the people who live here and will defend their rights and liberties as long as I hold a breath.

Thank you for the mention and the advertising.

Eddie Cutler
