Sweet stretch of cooler, sunnier weather this way comes

Dave Hayes maintains a daily blog on Facebook (facebook.com/WesternMassWeather), where he produces hyper-local reports, answers questions, and keeps more than 25,000 followers informed and educated about the weather.

Good day to you! After a round of showers and thunderstorms earlier this week, the associated cold front responsible for such activity has swept through southern Vermont and out to sea.

While the Summer of 2017 is not over yet, it is certainly taking a step down for the upcoming week — a solid reminder that the Autumnal Equinox is not too far away at this point.

For once, this writer will be painting a simpler picture of our upcoming sensible weather.

For Wednesday, we will be in a day of transition. While some early morning showers are possible, this should be a day of clearing and drying. Expect high temperatures in the middle to upper 70s with lows in the middle 50s, along with light southwest winds. Humidity will be up for a bit, and slowly drop into the evening.

Thereafter, for the Thursday through Tuesday period, sprawling strong high pressure will build southeast out of Canada, through the Great Lakes, and into New England. While a few spot showers are possible on Friday, the period from late this week into early next should generally be a time of abundant sunshine, low humidity, calm winds, fairly warm days and cool nights.

For Thursday, high temperatures will reach into the low to middle 70s and lows will dip down to near 50 degrees.

For Friday, high temperatures will reach into the low 70s and lows will dip down to the upper 40s as a reinforcing shot of cooler air moves into the region.

For Saturday, high temperatures will reach into the middle 70s and lows will dip down to the low 50s.

For Sunday, high temperatures will reach into the low 70s and lows will dip down to near 50 degrees.

During early next week, we can expect more of the same level of calm, temperate, fair weather that preceded it.

Have a great week!
