BRATTLEBORO The Crisis in Nicaragua: Aynn Setright will discuss the roots of the April 19, 2018 civil unrest uprisings in Nicaragua, which are still going on, and share perspectives of the current situation. A doctoral candidate at the University of Zulia, Venezuela, Aynn is completing her dissertation on Central American ecofeminism. She served as academic director for SIT Study Abroad in Nicaragua from 1999-2016. She is a member of the Latin American Studies Association and the Central American Historians Association. Since April 19, Nicaragua has been gripped by civil unrest. SIT Academic Dean for Latin America Aynn Setright will discuss the roots of the April uprisings and share perspectives of the current situation. CHESTERFIELD Moved and Seconded - Town Meeting in NH: The program will explore the stories of rituals, traditions, and history of New Hampshire town meetings as researched by humorist author Rebecca Rule. It will dive into the perennial characters, the literature, humor, and wisdom of this uniquely New England institution. Refreshments will be served. 7 p.m. Chesterfield Town Hall, 490 Rte. 63. BRATTLEBORO Free Class for Kids - Pickles: Learn how to make simple pickles using the bounty of summer vegetables and fruits available. Co-op tween Shoshana Davidovits will lead the way, sharing the recipe for her family's famous sweet pickle relish. BRATTLEBORO Alternatives to Suicide: This is a mutual support group open to anyone who has experienced thoughts of suicide. Guided by a charter of values provided by the Western Mass Recovery Learning Community, the group is non-clinical and does not link suicide with illness.
