PUTNEY Socks in the Frying Pan / Zoe Darrow: Next Stage Arts Project and Twilight Music present traditional Celtic and folk music from Ireland and New England by County Clare-based trio Socks in the Frying Pan and fiddler/singer Zoe Darrow. Their dynamic vocal harmonies earned the band critical acclaim/accolades including the Irish Music Association's "New Band the Year" award. With their personal flair, contemporary style, and energetic approach to music, Aodán Coyne on guitar and vocals and brothers Shane and Fiachra Hayes on accordion, fiddle, and banjo make traditional Irish melodies their own. The band released three CDs and Aodán and Shane have solo albums. Fiddler and singer Zoe Darrow is a musician of rare intensity/expressive range who grew up playing Cape Breton and other Celtic music on a sheep farm in Blandford, MA. She released her first recording in 2001 at the age of 12 with her band the Fiddleheads. She's toured and recorded with Tony Trischka, Tim Eriksen, Peter Irvine. 7:30 p.m. $20 ($24 at door). GUILFORD Community Day at Broad Brook Community Center: This is the first of BBCC's ongoing Community Days. Come to the Community Cafe to visit with friends and neighbors and enjoy light refreshments. Activities include arts and crafts for all ages, health and wellness classes (yoga, pilates, tai chi), a potluck supper, live performances on the Open Stage, and more.
