GUILFORD Wendy's Jazz Soiree - Bob Stabach 4tet honors Earth Day with Jazz and Haiku : On the Eve of Earth day, this concert will present Jazz tunes with titles referring to the earth, nature, and the ecology. Eugene Uman, piano; George Kaye, bass; Jon Fisher, drums; Bob Stabach, sax. Haiku by Basho and Kerouac. In between tunes, Wendy will read Haiku by the Japanese zen poet Matsuo Basho, the most celebrated 17th century master of this poetic form. His haiku poems are said to express mystical sensing and awareness leading to enlightenment. Bob will read American Haiku poems by Jack Kerouac who in 1959 released his second album "Blues and Haiku" where he recites along with jazz saxophonists Al Cohn and Zoot Sims. 7 p.m. $15 to $20 suggested donation.
