PUTNEY "Recovery" - Fables Storytelling: Hosted by Peter "Fish" Case. Four stories of recovery will be told. The evening will serve as further amplification of the crisis we're in and help us understand how to deal with it. Afterwards, there will be a Q&A. BRATTLEBORO Democracy Forum: - Cold War Formation and the Un-Constitutional National Security State: Upper-class elitism in the U.S. State Dept. melded to corporate greed cultivated by armaments production through World War II set the stage for the Cold War. Once committed, the machinery of secret warfare grew like a cancer into a National Security State. The Constitution prohibits a national security state. President Eisenhower warned us to beware the "disastrous rise of misplaced power," counseling that we "take nothing for granted." This presentation looks at how the disastrous rise of misplaced power developed so as to suggest avenues for disarming it. Presented by Nick Biddle. 12 noon - 1 p.m. Free.
