BRATTLEBORO Auditions for "Rathmines Road" (Vermont Theatre Company) : This play, written by Dierdre Kinahan, features 5 characters, 2 married couples, a former high school classmate - a trans woman, all in their mid-40s. Fraught, funny, ferocious, it testifies to the pain of carrying the memory of sexual assault throughout a lifetime. It bristles with tension and interrogates catharsis to ask: when and how do we take responsibility? Interested actors are asked to prepare two contrasting contemporary monologues. Total time not to exceed 4 minutes. This play premiered at the Abbey Theatre, part of the Dublin Theatre Festival 2018, and has only been performed once in the US. It contains material related to sexual violence that some may find disturbing - so research issues raised in this show to ascertain your comfort in exploring this content. Performances will take place 4/29-5/1 and 5/6-5/8. Hooker-Dunham Theater, 139 Main St. Information: 7-9 p.m. (flexible). Auditions held in four, 30-min. sections.
