PUTNEY Vermont Tour 2022 - Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival: "The Ants & the Grasshopper": Anita Chitaya has a gift - she can help bring abundant food from dead soil, she can make men fight for gender equality, and she can end child hunger in her village. Now, to save her home from extreme weather, she faces her greatest challenge: persuading Americans that climate change is real. Traveling from Malawi to California to the White House, she meets climate sceptics and despairing farmers. 5 p.m. Anita's journey takes her across all the divisions shaping the US - from rural-urban divide to schisms of race, class, gender. Her skill and experience persuade us that we're all in this together. Directors/Producers: Raj Patel, James Beard Award-winning activist, and Emmy-winning Zak Piper. $10 in advance, $12 at door. Next Stage Arts Project, 15 Kimball Hill. Co-presented with Vermont Independent Media/The Commons Tickets: https://tinyurl.com/2353zucf.
Real Organic Symposium - "Protecting Organic" (Virtual): Interactive talk with prominent organic farmers, scientists, climate activists, and YOU. How do we protect what we have worked so hard to build over the last century? What is the impact of personal choices compared to political change to move beyond the fringe into mainstream markets and what will protect us from corporate greenwashing, money, and power?. 3-5 p.m. $15 and up.
