WEST TOWNSHEND Bard Owl plays West Townshend Store's Pizza Night: T. Breeze Verdant on guitar, vocals, stomp box, and Annie Landenberger on vocals and percussion. Bard Owl has been playing in the region since 2016 offering sweet harmonies, driving rhythms, and an eclectic mix of old tunes, new, and original. 5-7 p.m: The outdoor wood-fired brick pizza oven will also be ready for baking. BRATTLEBORO Vision Video & Urban Heat: As an active paramedic/firefighter/veteran in Afghanistan, Vision Video lead Dusty Gannon has seen more horror in real life than in classic movies he draws inspiration from. When not saving lives, Dusty dons torn fishnets, combat boots, makeup to play post-punk that recalls the genre's heyday when lines between goth/pop blurred to create some of underground's beloved acts: The Cure, The Smiths, Joy Division. But, hidden within Vision Video's catchy hooks/dancy beats is a nostalgic/ desperate message exploring darker undertones of existence. At its core, Inked In Red looks inward to understand effects of war and the global pandemic. Dusty's experiences have imparted an authentic gravitas to the music, revealing a cautionary tale of unhinged mental illness born of trauma. It's sonically reflected in every chord and melody through its enticingly gothic yet often upbeat nature. 8 p.m. Urban Heat are a 3-piece American post-punk band from TX. Their sound fuses dark '80s stylings w/ modern flourishes with Jonathan Horstmann's throaty baritone delivering musings on existence and romanticism against an unrelenting industrial gothic pulse. $15 in advance, $20 at door.
