Good day to you, denizens of the Green Mountain State! While we still have a substantial portion of the summer to wade through, there are more cool indicators than warm ones for the month of August.
In other words, I still am not seeing any heat waves coming to our shores anytime soon. So if you are a summer heat detester, this summer's for you! If you love the 90s, super humid air, and hazy skies, you have my sympathies.
In terms of the week ahead, we generally will have fair weather through the end of the week, with more chances for a shower or thunderstorm over the weekend and into early next week. Let's jump into the details!
For Wednesday, high pressure will move in from our southwest and build into the region. After some patchy morning fog, we should enjoy mostly sunny skies. Highs will make it into the mid to upper 70s, and lows will dip into the mid 50s. Humidity levels will be comfortable into at least the first half of Friday before humidity builds over the weekend.
For Thursday, more sunshine is expected with similar temperatures and conditions to what is expected for Wednesday. It should be noted that on both Wednesday and Thursday, the chance for an isolated shower will be present in northern parts of Windham County closer to a low in southeastern Canada.
Friday appears to be a transition day, as what is referred to as “troughing” will be sliding east into New England, and will arrive over the weekend.
For what it's worth, a trough is a large area of lower pressures aloft, as compared against average pressure measured at a specific elevation. These dips in pressure aloft compared to the average tend to foster the develop of low pressure systems at the surface.
While Friday looks partly sunny, some scattered showers will be possible. Highs will be in the upper 70s with lows in the upper 50s.
By Saturday and into early next week, this generalized troughing pattern will be moving into the region. While much uncertainty remains around specifics and timing as of this writing, scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible at times from Saturday into Tuesday, with highs generally in the mid 70s.
