Mixed bag of weather expected for holiday weekend

Good day to you, folks that lay their heads in the windy hamlets of southeastern Vermont! We're pushing toward June now, and we'll get a summery taste this Friday through Sunday as warmth and humidity build.

Unfortunately for party planners and attendees, the second half of the weekend looks rather unsettled. Still, we've got plenty of sunshine to soak up before the clouds move back in, so let's jump into the details!

For Wednesday, a weak cold front will be continuing to truck east of our region. While we may start off with mostly cloudy skies, we will see sunshine develop as drier air moves into southern Vermont for a couple of days. Expect highs in the mid 70s and lows in the upper 40s for a pleasant, cool, and dry night.

For Thursday, we'll enjoy one more pleasant and dry day before the humidity starts to pool in our region later on Friday. Thanks to high pressure floating overhead, we'll enjoy a sunny day with low humidity and highs in the low 70s. Expect mostly clear skies Thursday night with lows in the low 50s.

For Friday, a moisture-starved warm front will be pushing through the region from southwest to northeast. Again, we'll enjoy another sunny day. but highs will be soaring into the low 80s for a taste of early summer. Humidity will also be increasing, and we can expect low temperatures to possibly not drop below 60 degrees in some spots.

While Saturday looks to be the pick of the weekend, it is not without its potential for scattered showers or thunderstorms late in the day. Expect highs in the upper 70 to low 80s under partly sunny skies. The big question is how far south a cold front will travel as it drops out of northern New England. Lows will be in the mid 50s.

For Sunday and Memorial Day itself, much uncertainty remains. As of now, it appears that a combination of said cold front when combined with an incoming upper level system will produce periods of unsettled showery weather, with substantial amounts of clouds. A thunderstorms cannot be ruled out, either.

Some sunny breaks are possible. Expect highs in the low 70s and lows in the upper 40s to low 50s both nights. By Tuesday, we should be clearing out into more fair and seasonable weather. Have a great week!
