Good day to you, fine folks of southeastern Vermont! I hope that you are ready for wisps of spring, hints of sweetness, an ever-increasing avian cacophony, and an ever-lengthening period of daylight. It’s coming!
That’s not to say a few more wintry reminders won’t pay us a visit over the next few weeks, but we’ve turned the corner and are firmly heading into the 2019 warm season.
As for the upcoming week’s weather highlights, fair and milder weather for Wednesday and Thursday leads to a very mild but rainy Friday with downpours possible. The weekend will feature a seasonable cool-down, and there is a low chance for light snow by Monday.
However, aside from a few downpours on Friday, and some strong wind potential into Saturday, the weather news contains more in the way of levity this week, and for that I am thankful. I think we all need a break! Okay, with all that said, let’s go diving for details!
For Wednesday, high pressure will be tracking east through our region with light winds and partly sunny skies. Highs should rise into the low 40s with a few upper 30s possible in the high terrain of northwestern parts of the county. Lows will drop into the upper 20s as clouds build with an isolated snow shower possible. Patchy black ice is also expected by Thursday morning.
For Thursday, after any isolated snow showers, we should see partly sunny skies develop with highs in the upper 40s to low 50s! We can thank a ridge developing off the eastern seaboard for our resultant southwesterly flow and milder temps. Lows will drop into the mid to upper 30s as clouds build into the region again.
For Friday, expect plenty of rain, with more than half an inch in some spots of southern Vermont. Low pressure will track well northwest of us, and fling a band of rainfall with some downpours possible. It will be quite mild with highs in the low to mid 50s. Rain will quit by midnight and lows will drop into the mid 30s.
For Saturday, cooler air will be rushing in behind a cold front, and west to northwest winds could gust 30-45 mph at times during the day. Highs will reach the low to mid 40s with lows in the 20s.
Aside from a low chance of light snow Sunday night into Monday, Sunday through Tuesday looks cooler with highs in the mid to upper 30s and lows in the upper teens to low 20s, with fair weather expected. Have a great week!
