Heavy rain Friday afternoon into Saturday, but sunnier early next week

Good day to you, residents of the windy hamlets in southeastern Vermont! The Spring of 2019 continues to bring varying weather conditions, and the next seven days will be no different.

We'll enjoy a sunny Wednesday, with clouds building Wednesday night. Two rounds of showers with a warm frontal passage bring wet weather for Thursday morning and again in the evening.

A strong low pressure system will track to our west and slow its forward speed, resulting in heavier rains Friday afternoon into the first half of Saturday with 1 to 2 inches of rain possible.

Sunday is a transition day of a few showers and mostly cloudy skies before we bring the sunshine back early next week. That's the summary. Let's jump into the daily details!

For Wednesday, high pressure will crest through the region. This will bring light winds and mostly sunny skies, with highs in the mid to upper 50s. Clouds will build overnight as a warm front approaches from the southwest. Lows temperatures will bottom out in the mid 30s.

For Thursday, we should see a round of morning rain showers, possibly mixed with snow in the high peaks of western Windham County.

Expect mostly cloudy skies with highs in the mid to upper 40s, so it will be fairly raw outside. Patchy drizzle is expected after the morning showers, and then another round of scattered showers is possible in the evening. Lows will remain in the 40s as the cloud deck lowers.

For Friday, our low pressure system tracks northeast into the eastern Great Lakes and should slow or even stall. Given the low's counterclockwise flow, a southerly siphon of very moist air will be drawn northward up the eastern seaboard.

This moist air will converge along and east of the storm's cold front, producing heavy rainfall Friday afternoon into the first half of Saturday, with scattered showers Friday morning. Highs will be in the low to mid 60s with lows in the 50s Friday night and in the 40s on Saturday night.

For Sunday, the remnants of our low pressure system will drift through the region with a chance of rain showers, mostly cloudy skies, and highs near 60 and lows in the mid 40s.

High pressure arrives for Monday and Tuesday with partly to mostly sunny skies and highs either side of 60 degrees. Have a great week!
