‘Played Out!’ moves to Wednesdays

The Root Social Justice Center, located on the ground floor at 28 Williams St. in Brattleboro, is an accessible space with an accessible restroom and has on-site parking. The Root’s staff asks attendees to come fragrance-free, and The Root does not allow drugs or alcohol on the premises. For more information, find Played Out! on Facebook.

BRATTLEBORO—Played Out!, the monthly game night for the LGBT community and allies at The Root Social Justice Center, has moved to the second Wednesday of the month.

Played Out’s organizers invite all interested parties to join them for a fun and friendly evening of board games, dice games, and card games, according to a news release. They have a good collection of games and invite attendees to bring their favorites, as well as a few friends.

At its inception, the event was hosted by Green Mountain Crossroads (now known as Out in the Open). Last year, the rural queer advocacy nonprofit group decided to discontinue Played Out!, citing a need to focus their efforts elsewhere.

A small group of individuals didn’t want game night to end, and they took over organizing, promoting, and facilitating the monthly event. They kept the structure, the name, and the location, but changed the day of the week to Tuesdays.

Because of a need for scheduling consistency, organizers moved the date again; now Played Out! happens on the second Wednesday of the month from 7-9 p.m.

The next Played Out! is on July 10. Upcoming dates include Aug. 14, Sept. 11, Oct. 9, Nov. 13, and Dec. 11.

The event is free and open to all ages, and organizers ask anyone age 16 or younger to bring a responsible adult.
