After a late week rain, a sunny disposition awaits Southern Vermont

Hello and good day to you, southeastern Vermonters! Summer is building now, and by mid to late next week we could be looking at high temperatures in the low 90s as a southeast U.S. ridge may start to assume its classic position and pump some heat and humidity our way.

As for the upcoming week, we will be seeing increased humidity by Thursday, and especially so by Thursday night and Friday when the best chance for showers, downpours, and thunderstorms will be as a system works through the region.

We look to clear and dry out for the entire weekend, as well as into early next week, so we're not looking at much rainfall over the next seven days. With that picture painted, let's jump into the daily details!

For Wednesday, we'll enjoy one more fairly dry day with mostly sunny skies and highs in the low to upper 80s from the high passes to the eastern valley. Humidity will be comfortable and winds will be light out of the west. Lows will drop to the low to mid 60s under partly cloudy skies, with a flip to light southerly flow and increased humidity overnight.

For Thursday, humidity will continue to increase and be most noticeable late in the day and overnight. Overall, we'll give witness to a partly sunny day, with a chance of isolated showers or even a non-severe thunderstorm at any point during the morning or afternoon as a warm front lifts through the region. Highs will reach the low to mid 80s.

By Thursday night, low pressure will be racing east through southeast Canada, and this will drag a cold front toward the region. Expect uncomfortable humidity, as well as scattered showers, downpours and thunderstorms overnight with lows in the mid to upper 60s.

For Friday, we will likely start off wet with scattered showers and storms, but should see a tapering of wet weather during the afternoon. We can't rule out a shower or two in the afternoon and evening, but the trend will be a drying one. Highs will reach the upper 70s to low 80s with lows in the low 60s as things clear out.

The weekend looks gorgeous, with much drier air by Saturday afternoon, mostly sunny skies, and highs in the upper 70s to mid 80s both days, with lows near 60 degrees.

Early next week looks to be a continuation of fair weather with highs either side of 80 degrees. Have a great week!
