BMAC to host 12th annual Lego Contest & Exhibit

BRATTLEBORO — The Brattleboro Museum & Art Center invites creators of all ages to design and build original Lego sculptures and display them at the Museum in BMAC's 12th Annual Lego Contest & Exhibit, Nov. 7 through 11.

This popular annual event is sponsored by G.S. Precision, Brattleboro Subaru, and Don Robinson Builder. Prizes include gift certificates to Toy City in Keene, N.H.

BMAC will display every entry submitted to the contest. A panel of judges will award prizes based on creativity and craftsmanship in seven age groups: preschool, grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12, adult, and adult/child collaborations.

Other prizes will be awarded at the judges' discretion. Every contestant will receive a personalized certificate of participation and two complimentary passes valid for unlimited admission to the Museum for the duration of the Lego Contest & Exhibit.

Entries from past years have included a replica of BMAC, an amusement park, a model of Brattleboro's Harris Hill ski jump, a working pinball machine, and a Bernie Sanders rally.

“One thing we want to emphasize is that, although it's a contest, no one is really focused on the competition. This is all about celebrating creativity and having fun at the museum,” BMAC Director Danny Lichtenfeld said in a news release.

Entries must be delivered to BMAC on Tuesday, Nov. 5, between 4 and 6 p.m., along with an entry form and $5 entry fee. Special arrangements to deliver entries earlier may be made by calling 802-257-0124, ext. 101.

The opening reception and awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, Nov. 7, at 6 p.m. Admission to the awards ceremony is $5 for adults and teens, $3 for children ages 6 to 12, and free for BMAC members and children 5 and under.

The same admission fees apply throughout the weekend while Lego entries are on display.

All entries will remain on display at the museum through Monday, Nov. 11. Contest guidelines and entry forms are available at www.brattleboromuseum.org or by calling 802-257-0124, ext. 101.
