Hello and good day to you, fine citizens of southeastern Vermont! We've got a quiet weather week on the way in southeastern Vermont, that may end in some icing and rain by Tuesday into early Wednesday as we head toward the end of February.
For Wednesday, we'll see a blustery day blow through the region under mostly sunny skies as we cool down. Thursday and Friday will feature the core of our current cold shot, with continued fair weather as winds slacken.
The weekend should become milder with high pressure passing to our east. Fair weather should continue into Monday, but sometime between Monday evening and early Wednesday morning another storm looks to bring mainly rain to our region, though a period of icing is possible if precipitation passes through at night.

For Wednesday, the storm that brought mixed precipitation yesterday will be well off to the northeast, having pulled colder air into the region. Expect blustery northwest winds, with gusts 25-35 mph at times, highest in the mountains. Expect highs to reach the upper 20s to mid 30s with lows in the single digits and winds slacken under mostly clear skies.
For Thursday, cold high pressure will center over the region and produce highs only in the upper teens to mid 20s under mostly sunny skies. Lows will dip down to near zero, with slightly below zero readings in the mountains and slightly above zero in the valleys near Brattleboro.
For Friday, another cold and sunny day arrives, but a bit milder than Thursday. Expect mostly sunny skies with highs in the low to mid 20s with lows in the teens under mostly clear skies.
On Saturday, high pressure will pass southeast of the region. Because air travels in a clockwise direction around high pressure centers, this will promote a southerly flow into Vermont over the weekend, and into next week. Expect mostly sunny skies with highs in the mid to upper 30s and lows near 20 under partly cloudy skies.
On Sunday, temperatures will tick up even further, with highs in the upper 30s to low 40s under mostly sunny skies, with lows in the 20s as clouds increase.
The timing of an early week storm system is unclear as of this writing. It's possible we could see some rain or snow showers by Monday morning, or that storm may hold off and move in during either Monday night or Tuesday morning.
Temps still look fairly mild and while some icing or snow is possible early next week, we should see mostly rain showers during that period as milder air continues its regional reign. Have a great week!
