Holcombe: clear priorities and policy perspectives to address them

SAXTONS RIVER — I am pleased to join Emily's List and other individuals and organizations in endorsing Rebecca Holcombe for governor of Vermont.

I have had the opportunity of meeting Rebecca and talking with her subsequently about issues of personal concern including health care, education, and ethical government. I am convinced that she has an in-depth grasp of the issues before us as we move Vermont forward in these challenging times, coupled with a passionate desire to address those issues in consultation with various experts as well as members of the public.

From the high cost of health care, to the need for child care and educational reform, to the urgency of affordable housing, climate change, and a clean environment, Rebecca has clear priorities and policy perspectives to address them.

She also realizes that she can't do the work alone. With an eye on building strong teams and community alliances, she has said, “I wouldn't try to fix my car engine on my own, but I have a darn good mechanic. Nor would I try to fix [the state's priorities] without consulting with communities about their needs.”

Importantly, accountability and transparency in good governance starts there.

I encourage readers to learn more about Rebecca Holcombe and to vote for her agenda and leadership.
