• Margaret Elizabeth “Peggy O” O'Brien, 91, of Belllows Falls. Died June 30, 2021 at Cedar Hill in Windsor. Peggy was born on Aug. 4, 1929, the daughter of John and Honorah (Kelly) O'Brien. She graduated from Bellows Falls High School in 1947, and joined several other family members as employees at Robertson's Paper Co. In March 1948, Peggy was hired as a teller at the Bellows Falls Trust Co. During her tenure there, she worked in all areas of the bank, retiring in 1991 as the vice president in charge of human resources. Peggy enjoyed time spent with family and friends. She greatly enjoyed her membership in the 19 Williams Street Coffee Group, which later relocated to any coffee shop that allowed the group to start their mornings together and to watch out and care for one another. It saddened her when many of them passed on, leaving an empty chair at the table and saddened her even more when the group eventually disbanded. She was a member of the Bellows Falls Woman's Club and loved telling jokes at their meetings - even though she often forgot the punch line. In her younger days, Peg was an avid golfer and bowler. She was the last living member of the “Dollar Bill” club. The group included Peggy, Julie Prybylo, Betty Faulkner, Kay Hennessey, and Anna Mae Kelly. In the early-1960s, they tore a $1 bill into five pieces, each taking a piece as a reminder of their friendship. Peggy was in proud possession of her share of that dollar. Shirley joined the workforce only after her daughters were older and worked at Hinsdale Raceway before eventually becoming a pharmacy tech at Root's Pharmacy in Brattleboro for 20 years. She then went to Walmart in Hinsdale as a pharmacy tech for 16 years. Her co-workers always became like family to her. Shirley lived her life softly with graciousness, honesty, kindness and thoughtfulness. She was a lifelong parishioner and Deaconess of North Hinsdale Community Church and attended faithfully. She read her Bible every day and was comforted and strengthened by her readings. Donations to Northfield EMS, 41 Main St., Northfield, MA 01360, where her hero Camron is Assistant Chief.
